WORKING MEMORY/ 03
Match positions and letters from N cues ago.A short challenge for your working memory.
Compare now with 1 cue ago.
Here, both match. Tap Position and Letter. If neither matches, wait.
Dual n-back asks you to keep track of two sequences at once: positions on a grid and a series of letters. At each step, decide whether either matches the cue from N steps earlier.
Start with 1-back to get comfortable, then try 2-back or 3-back. Each session has 20 scored rounds plus warm-up cues. Letters are also shown on screen, and spoken letters use your browser’s speech support. You can switch to visual-only mode before starting.
Watch the highlighted square and follow the letter. If the square is in the same place as N cues ago, press A. If the letter matches N cues ago, press L. Press both if both match, and neither if neither matches.
No. The first N cues give you something to remember. Scoring starts after those warm-up cues.
Check your device volume and browser speech support. Letters are always shown on screen too. Visual-only mode is available before you start; it is a variation on the auditory-and-visual task.
